Piping Layout Engineer

About the role

SBM Offshore Piping Engineering team designs and builds offshore oil and gas piping systems. The role leads a team of piping engineers and designers, overseeing concept studies, equipment layout, and detailed design while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule compliance. Bangalore, India, on-site work model, with potential for relocation assistance.

What you’ll do

• Lead a piping design team on large EPC projects
• Develop piping concept studies and equipment layouts
• Supervise engineers and designers in problem‑solving
• Prepare and review design documents and drawings
• Coordinate 3D model gate reviews and clash resolution
• Ensure compliance with safety, material, and code requirements
• Monitor project progress, identify slippage, and propose remedies
• Develop training plans for graduate trainees and mid‑level engineers

What you’ll bring

• BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering
• 15 years total experience
• 4-5 years in lead role
• Design lead on offshore EPC projects
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3/B31.4/B31.8, API, NACE standards
• Experience with 3D software E3D/PDMS/AutoCAD
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills
• Ability to manage multiple discipline tasks
