About the role
ICF, a global consulting firm, seeks an Energy Markets Analyst to support power sector modeling, production cost and transmission congestion analysis, nodal market valuation, load flow studies, and ISO/RTO research. The role involves data collection, advanced quantitative analysis, code/macro development, and high-quality written deliverables for clients.
What you’ll do
- Collect and analyze power sector data for modeling projects
- Perform production cost modeling and transmission congestion analysis
- Model and analyze nodal power markets, including financial calculations
- Conduct load flow analysis of transmission and distribution systems
- Lead data input/output processes and maintain datasets/templates
- Research and update on ISO/RTO market developments
- Perform advanced quantitative analysis of transmission systems worldwide
- Support modeling and policy analysis for transmission, renewable, smart grid, distribution
- Develop code and macros to process large datasets
- Prepare high-quality written and electronic products
What you’ll bring
- Master's in Power/Energy Systems or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
- 0-2 years production cost modeling or economic power market analysis
- Experience with GE-MAPS, PROMOD, GridView, or PLEXOS
- Proficiency in GE-PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld, CYMDIST
- Strong quantitative, database, and data analysis skills
- Linear optimization and energy market knowledge a plus
- Advanced Excel, VBA, macro programming, other languages
- Research, analytical, organizational, prioritization skills
- Excellent written and oral communication
