About the role
ICF, a global consulting firm, seeks an Energy Markets Analyst to support power sector modeling projects across India. The analyst will collect and analyze data for technology characterizations, regional load, and emissions cost studies, perform production cost modeling and transmission congestion analysis, and assist in nodal market modeling and financial calculations. Responsibilities include load flow analysis of transmission and distribution systems, leading data input/output processes, researching ISO/RTO market developments, and conducting advanced quantitative analysis of global transmission systems. The role requires developing code and macros for large datasets and preparing high‑quality written and electronic deliverables. This fixed‑term, 2‑year position offers exposure to cutting‑edge tools such as GE‑MAPS, PROMOD, GridView, PLEXOS, GE‑PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld, and CYMDIST.
What you’ll do
- Collect and analyze power sector data for modeling projects
- Perform production cost modeling and transmission congestion analysis
- Assist nodal power market modeling and financial calculations
- Conduct load flow analysis of transmission and distribution systems
- Lead data input/output processes and maintain modeling templates
- Research ISO/RTO market developments and update team
- Analyze transmission systems globally for reliability and bottlenecks
- Support modeling and policy analysis for transmission, renewables, smart grid
- Develop code and macros to process large datasets
- Prepare high-quality written and electronic deliverables
What you’ll bring
- Master's in Power/Energy systems OR Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
- 0-2 years production cost modeling or economic power market analysis experience (incl internships)
- Experience with GE-MAPS, PROMOD, GridView, or PLEXOS production cost models
- Basic knowledge of GE-PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld, CYMDIST power flow tools
- Strong quantitative, database management, and data analysis skills
- Advanced Excel and VBA skills, including macro programming
- Good research, analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Excellent written and oral communication; collaborative teamwork
