About the role

Marine and Energy Services team at Wärtsilä ensures reliable operation of modern marine diesel, dual-fuel and gas engines. The Service Engineer performs field service, troubleshooting, overhauls and maintenance on medium‑speed engines, providing technical guidance and progress updates to customers and internal stakeholders. Chennai location, on‑site work model, with relocation assistance available.

What you’ll do

• Perform field service activities on marine diesel, dual‑fuel and gas engines
• Carry out major and minor overhauls, repairs and component replacements
• Diagnose faults, conduct operational checks and performance tuning
• Interact with customers, providing technical guidance and support
• Prepare and submit detailed service work reports
• Monitor work orders and report status to stakeholders
• Identify improvement opportunities to enhance safety and efficiency

What you’ll bring

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years experience in maintenance, overhaul and troubleshooting of medium‑speed diesel, dual‑fuel or gas engines

Nice to have

• Experience with Napier and ABB turbochargers
• Knowledge of fuel oil and lube oil separators
• Familiarity with power plant auxiliary systems

Education

Mechanical Engineering Diploma
