Energy Market Analyst

About the role

ICF seeks an Energy Market Analyst in Interconnection & Transmission team to support IA prep, submission, tracking, and analytical work on generator/load interconnection studies and transmission planning. Early‑career professional building technical foundations in interconnection processes, power system analysis, and consulting delivery within collaborative team.

What you’ll do

• Support IA activities: prep materials, data validation, submission coordination.
• Track IA milestones, study phases, schedules, data requests.
• Perform entry‑level technical analyses for generator/load interconnection and transmission planning studies.
• Support power flow modeling and simulation under senior guidance.
• Prepare client deliverables: technical memoranda, reports, presentations, data summaries.
• Coordinate with internal project teams for IA‑related consulting across multiple engagements.
• Stay current on interconnection rules, study processes, regulatory developments.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Management, or related field.
• 0–2 years experience in North American electric power sector or strong academic exposure to power systems, transmission, or interconnection topics.
• Familiarity with Interconnection Application processes and required data inputs.
• Basic understanding of transmission planning, power flow analysis, and grid operations concepts.
• Exposure to power system modeling tools (PSCAD, PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSLF, TARA) through coursework, internships, or early professional experience.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and multitasking.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Prior experience supporting Interconnection Application preparation, submission, or study coordination.
• Internship or entry‑level experience with utilities, system operators, renewable developers, consulting firms, or transmission providers.
• Coursework or hands‑on experience related to power flow analysis, transmission systems, or grid integration of generation and load.
• Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, or basic data analysis tools.
• Interest in building a long‑term career in interconnection, transmission planning, or power markets consulting.
