Lead Technology Specialist

About the role

Caterpillar Inc.'s Technology, Digital and Data career area seeks a Lead Technology Specialist in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, working fully on-site. The role consults on and leads technology projects for internal and external customers, shaping direction through solution and enterprise architecture, principal engineering, or management consulting. Day-to-day work includes advising on client requirements, proposing business cases, providing subject matter expertise, and leading design, testing, and implementation of technical projects while ensuring compliance with standards and processes.

What you’ll do

• Consult on client requirements and propose technology solutions and business cases; guide in evaluating, selecting, and utilizing new and existing tools and techniques.
• Provide subject matter expertise and solutions on comprehensive technology issues for internal and external customers.
• Lead the design, testing, and technology implementation of technical projects, while collaborating with senior IT staff.
• Ensure that the design and implementation of technologies are compliant with existing standards and processes.
• Advise others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions and engage appropriate subject matter resources to resolve technical issues.
• Mentor and coach others to enhance technical competence and promote superior technical solutions to business problems.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and advise clients regarding their potential business impacts.
• Direct the design and production of a full spectrum of written technical materials and lead documentation solutions.

What you’ll bring

• Substantial experience in senior technical leadership roles such as solution architect, enterprise architect, principal engineer, or management consultant, with a track record of shaping direction rat
• Demonstrated experience delivering technology within a manufacturing environment, with a working understanding of production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain processes.
• Deep hands-on experience with SAP ERP in a manufacturing context, and practical working knowledge of Oracle platforms.
• Experience delivering digital manufacturing, industrial IoT, or MES capability, and experience taking at least one AI or advanced analytics use case into production.
• Evidence of influencing senior stakeholders and driving organizational change without direct reporting authority over them.
• Fluent written and spoken English, and the ability to work effectively with globally distributed teams across time zones.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline.
• Ability to work onsite five days a week.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or business administration.
• Experience in a global matrixed organisation where the technology function reports centrally rather than to the site.
