About the role
The Engineer-SSHE role in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, leads a team of 5 to 8 engineers to advance SSHE goals, OIMS administration, and safety culture aligned with the 'Nobody Gets Hurt' objective. Day-to-day work includes mentoring staff, leading HAZOP and RCA investigations, managing process safety risk, and delivering capital project engineering support on time and on budget. The position requires 12-18 years of experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical LNG industry.
What you’ll do
- Lead a team of 5 to 8 engineers and oversee the safety of all direct reports
- Lead strategic direction for program and training development to improve OIMS, safety, risk, and incident management processes
- Collaborate with functional managers and business line leaders on short-term and long-term SSHE goals, objectives, and deliverables
- Mentor SSHE staff, identify development needs, and provide timely, constructive feedback to facilitate career development and competency
- Support management of OIMS system, administration, and overarching processes, including serving as OIMS Owner or Administrator
- Lead implementation of safety management systems in support of objectives consistent with 'Nobody Gets Hurt'
- Provide insightful coaching, develop talent for the long term, assess performance, and provide actionable feedback
- Ensure project success delivering with quality, including on-time and on-budget delivery, and build customer relations through good interactions and responsiveness
What you’ll bring
- B.E/B.Tech/BS in Chemical, Petroleum, Fire & Safety, or Mechanical engineering
- 12-18 years of work experience in the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical LNG industry
- Lead a team of 5 to 8 engineers
- Provide capital project engineering support including Project Risk Assessment and Management Plans (RAMP)
- Lead Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and quantitative risk screenings
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for high-potential process safety incidents and near-misses
- Manage process safety concerns at existing production facilities through technical change reviews
- Support OIMS system management, administration, and overarching processes
Nice to have
- Strong knowledge of SSHE regulations and standards
- Risk assessment and Hazard Analysis
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and SSHE reporting
- CCPSC (Center for Chemical Process Safety Certified) or professional Process Safety certification
- NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety
