About the role
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Global Business Unit designs and builds advanced networking solutions. The Principal Systems Software Engineer leads the design and development of complex packet forwarding features, creates organization-wide architectures, and mentors junior staff. Based in Bengaluru, India, this role is onsite at the HPE office.
What you’ll do
- Design and develop complex packet forwarding features for L2, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, VPLS, EVPN, and CFM
- Create and maintain organization-wide software architecture and methodologies
- Evaluate new technologies and integration plans aligned with roadmap
- Review designs for compliance with standards and provide feedback
- Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 15+ years of experience in software systems design
Nice to have
- Strong C++ programming and debugging skills
- Deep knowledge of Layer 1-4 networking protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, MPLS, EVPN, CFM)
- Experience with software architecture across multiple platforms
- Proven track record of innovation with patents or deployed solutions
