About the role
GE Vernova Grid Solutions seeks a Control & Protection Engineer to design, develop, model, and verify HVDC control and protection systems. The role involves analyzing customer specs, creating control strategies, building and testing algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink, and supporting tendering, project execution, and after‑sales activities. What you’ll do
- Analyze customer technical specifications and define HVDC control and protection requirements
- Design, develop, and debug control algorithms and protection logic using MATLAB/Simulink
- Develop verification models and test harnesses for model validation
- Perform plant modeling of HVDC systems in PSCAD, RSCAD, EMTP tools
- Execute dynamic performance studies and tune parameters for grid stability
- Support tendering, operations, contractual, and after‑sales activities
- Collaborate with R&D and NPI teams on new product development
- Document models and promote reuse of standard solutions
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience with HVDC control and protection
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink modeling
- Experience with PSCAD, RSCAD, EMTP tools
- Knowledge of power system stability analysis
- Familiarity with real‑time simulation platforms (RTDS, OPAL‑RT)
- Process improvement and RCA experience
- Strong written and verbal communication
