About the role
Simulation & Verification Engineer-HVDC Control & Protection is a full‑time role based in Chennai, India. The engineer will support global projects by adapting HVDC Base Control & Protection Software, develop future HVDC control and protection solutions, perform EMT studies to optimize fault detection, resolve control issues, coordinate stakeholders, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold Hitachi Energy’s safety and integrity values.
What you’ll do
- Support global projects by adapting HVDC Base Control & Protection Software (MACH).
- Develop control and protection functions/solutions for future HVDC technologies.
- Perform power system protection/control studies using EMT tools to optimize fault detection algorithms.
- Resolve issues related to control and protection functions.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across business units to optimize HVDC solutions.
- Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics.
- 5-8 years experience in Control & Protection systems.
- Proficiency with PSCAD, MATLAB, or other simulation tools.
- Knowledge of IEEE/IEC standards.
- MS Office (Word, Excel) skills.
- Experience with HVDC systems preferred.
- Digital signal processing and analog/digital circuit knowledge.
- Technical tender support or bidding experience.
- Substation environment and protection application exposure.
- Self‑starter with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
