About the role

cargo-partner, a global logistics provider within the Nippon Express Group, seeks an Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager for Sea Cargo in Chennai. The role manages end-to-end shipment handling, customer communication, and freight forwarding operations while ensuring data accuracy in transport systems. This is an on-site position based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

What you’ll do

• Manage end-to-end sea cargo shipment handling and daily operations
• Enter commercial data into transport management systems and ensure document accuracy
• Act as primary customer contact, providing status updates and resolving queries
• Coordinate with internal departments and stakeholders to solve client issues
• Handle customer claims and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement
• Organize shipments including pick-up, customs clearance, loading, and delivery
• Issue invoices to clients and register supplier invoices according to regulations
• Conduct retention calls and maintain legally required documentation

What you’ll bring

• Experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations
• Proficiency in transport management systems (e.g., CW1)
• Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to manage complex shipments from pickup to delivery
• Knowledge of customs clearance and compliance procedures
