About the role
Vanguard India Technology team builds cloud-native applications and AI‑enabled services for Vanguard’s investment platforms. The Application Engineer III designs, develops and deploys secure backend services using Java, Spring Boot and AWS, mentors junior engineers, and drives performance monitoring and continuous improvement. Hyderabad, India, hybrid work model with on‑site collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Design and develop cloud‑native applications and APIs
- Build secure, scalable backend services on Java/Spring Boot
- Develop and maintain AWS microservices and serverless solutions
- Implement API authentication and authorization
- Monitor application performance using Splunk, Honeycomb, CloudWatch
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in Agile ceremonies
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices
- Support production applications and ensure service reliability
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years application development
- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or IT
- Java, Spring Boot, Python basics
- AWS Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, ECS
- API security with OAuth, Okta, JWT
- Splunk, Honeycomb, CloudWatch monitoring
- Test automation with Cucumber (TDD/BDD)
- Agile, Confluence, JIRA experience
