About the role

Persistent Disk team provides mission-critical block storage for Google Cloud, managing exabytes of data. As a Software Engineering Manager II you set team priorities, develop technical roadmaps, design high-performance storage clients, write and review code, and coach engineers. Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, On-site.

What you’ll do

• Set and communicate team priorities aligned with organizational goals
• Align strategy, processes, and decision‑making across teams
• Meet regularly with engineers to discuss performance, development, and provide coaching
• Develop technical goals and roadmap for the team
• Design system architectures and guide implementations
• Write production code to solve storage problems
• Review code and ensure best practices

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 8 years software development experience
• 3 years technical leadership experience
• 2 years people management experience
• Experience architecting storage solutions in cloud

Nice to have

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field
• 3 years experience in a matrixed organization
