Sr. Manager, Software Engineering

About the role

Black Duck Software seeks a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering in Bangalore to lead the development of its open source management solution. The role involves mentoring engineering teams, driving roadmap execution, and serving as Scrum Master for cross-functional groups. This is an on-site position based in Bangalore.

What you’ll do

• Provide hands-on direction to a software engineering team and collaborate with product management.
• Drive the delivery of engineering deliverables across multiple development organizations.
• Serve as the scrum master, leading cross-functional teams including development, UX, and QA.
• Partner with Product Management to ensure successful product delivery from conception to release.
• Communicate engineering release health, issues, and risks to stakeholders at various levels.
• Proactively manage engineering risks and issues to mitigate or eliminate undesirable impacts.
• Hire, manage, and develop a professional staff of engineers.
• Continuously improve tools and best practices for development activities.

What you’ll bring

• 15-20 years of experience mentoring and growing successful engineering teams.
• Experience managing technology deliverables and application portfolios.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to drive day-to-day activities.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and other Program Management tools.
• Understanding of programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL.
• Experience with Agile software methodologies.
