About the role
DigitalOcean Storage Products team builds and operates cloud-scale storage services including Object, Block, File Storage, Backups, and Snapshots. The Senior Director of Engineering leads multiple engineering groups, defines multi-year strategy, partners with VP and C‑suite stakeholders, and drives scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency across the portfolio. Bengaluru, on-site, leading a 50+ engineer organization.
What you’ll do
- Define and own multi-year engineering strategy and roadmap for storage products
- Lead and grow multiple engineering teams across storage services
- Partner with product, infrastructure, finance, and GTM leaders to translate business priorities
- Drive organizational design, headcount planning, and talent strategy
- Establish engineering excellence, coding standards, and reliability practices
- Manage delivery of concurrent programs and ensure successful launches
- Optimize storage economics, hardware utilization, and capacity planning
- Recruit, retain, and develop senior engineering talent
What you’ll bring
- 15+ years software engineering experience
- 6+ years senior engineering leadership
- Experience building and scaling cloud storage platforms
- Deep expertise in distributed storage systems
- Leadership of 50+ engineers
