Application Engineer (Pre-Sales) - Controls

About the role

Johnson Controls – Building Management Systems team drives global BMS solutions. The Application Engineer (Pre‑Sales) supports BMS opportunities by reviewing project specs, creating BOMs, designing network architecture, and preparing technical proposals alongside sales. Based in Bangalore, India, on‑site role with hybrid collaboration as needed.

What you’ll do

• Review project inputs and specifications to capture scope
• Create bill of material and select sensors, valves, dampers, controllers
• Design Building Automation System network architecture
• Prepare technical submissions and proposals for sales teams
• Participate in kickoff and review meetings, logging risks and minutes
• Ensure quality assurance and on‑time delivery of pre‑sales outputs
• Maintain accurate timesheet entries

What you’ll bring

• Diploma (6‑10 yrs exp) or BE/ME (2‑7 yrs exp)
• Japanese language proficiency N4 minimum
• Strong knowledge of system architecture and operator workstations
• Familiarity with BACnet, LON, Modbus, OPC protocols
• Industrial automation experience (PLC programming/SCADA) preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Quick learner with strong problem‑solving skills
