About the role
Supply Chain Services (SSC) at Johnson Electric manages global indirect spend and plant improvements. The Senior Commodity Lead drives end‑to‑end sourcing for CAPEX equipment, facility projects, and MRO services, negotiating high‑value contracts and ensuring compliance. Chennai, India, on-site, hybrid role with occasional remote work.
What you’ll do
- Strategically manage sourcing for heavy industrial machines and plant equipment
- Lead commercial negotiations for high‑value asset purchases and AMCs
- Oversee procurement for plant renovations, civil/electrical/HVAC projects
- Source and manage contractors, architects, and engineering services
- Maintain MRO inventory and oversee facility management contracts
- Build and maintain regional vendor database and conduct performance audits
- Ensure compliance with global safety standards and anti‑bribery regulations
What you’ll bring
- 10-15 years procurement experience in engineering or heavy manufacturing
- 2-3 years CAPEX and facility buying focus
- Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical or Production Engineering
- MBA in Supply Chain or Operations Management (preferred)
- Proficiency with SAP MM, Oracle or e‑sourcing tools
- Fluent English and working knowledge of Tamil
