About the role
The Senior Global Commodity Manager leads the global commodity strategy for Power Conversion & Storage, managing approximately $150M in spend. Based in Chennai, this full-time role coordinates with regional sourcing teams and GE Vernova businesses to execute cohesive global strategies. The position focuses on supplier management, cost reduction, and strategic sourcing initiatives within a complex matrix organization.
What you’ll do
- Develop and lead global commodity strategy for Power Electronics & Electrical commodities
- Partner with GE Power Conversion & Storage sites to execute global sourcing strategies
- Leverage broader GE Electrification and GE Vernova business resources
- Drive supplier diversity, sustainability, risk mitigation, and competitiveness
- Lead supplier evaluation, selection, development, and overall management
- Execute sourcing initiatives including BCC, productivity, and supply base rationalization
- Manage supplier contracts and supply agreements
- Deliver improvements to key sourcing metrics like Quality, Fulfillment, and Cost
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Sourcing (Electrical/mechanical), or MBA
- 12+ years of experience in sourcing
- Experience in leadership roles within global matrixed organizations
- Broad competence in sourcing analysis and strategy definition
- Fluency in English
