About the role
Evernorth Health Services India, an innovation hub in Hyderabad established in 2024, supports generative AI, product development, analytics, and software engineering across The Cigna Group. As a Data Engineering Lead Analyst, you will lead the design, development, optimization, and support of enterprise data engineering solutions, partnering with stakeholders to translate complex data requirements into scalable, secure solutions. Day-to-day work includes designing SQL/PL/SQL objects, data models, pipelines, and integration solutions across Oracle and PostgreSQL, driving performance tuning, data governance, and automation with Python and Shell scripting, while mentoring engineers and supporting cloud migration. The role is based in Hyderabad and follows a hybrid schedule from 2:30 PM IST to 11:30 PM IST.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL, PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and database objects across Oracle and PostgreSQL environments.
- Design scalable data models, data pipelines, and integration solutions that support critical business and operational processes.
- Lead technical design discussions and provide architectural guidance for data engineering solutions across multiple CRD applications.
- Drive database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, partitioning, and capacity planning activities.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, consistency, lineage, and governance across multiple systems and environments.
- Develop and maintain automated data processing, validation, reconciliation, and monitoring solutions using Python and Shell scripting.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and drive operational excellence.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, establish development standards, and promote engineering best practices.
What you’ll bring
- 7+ years of software engineering, database engineering, or data engineering experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience in Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, and data engineering
- Strong hands-on expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Expert-level SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Deep understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, indexing, partitioning, and data modeling.
- Hands-on experience with PL/SQL development including packages, procedures, functions, and triggers.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise data integration solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Python and Shell scripting.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Technology Management, or related discipline.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS services such as RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, ECS, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with cloud-native data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar analytical platforms.
- Experience designing and supporting scalable data lakes and modern data architectures.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
- Exposure to container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Experience with data quality, observability, metadata management, and governance frameworks.
- Experience with Java/Spring Boot for data integration services.
