About the role

TVS Motor Company's R&D - EV Sys D&D team seeks an EV & HEV Energy Storage Systems - Section Head at the Hosur Plant, Tamil Nadu, India. The role leads the battery system, pack mechanical, thermal, and electrical engineering teams plus the cell engineering team, owning mechanical, electrical, and thermal design and development supervision for Energy Storage Systems across 2W, 3W, and 4W product lines. Day-to-day work includes defining battery and cell strategy, standardizing and innovating pack designs, driving industrialization with DFM/DFA, leading validation and failure analysis, and managing cross-functional programs. Employment type is White Collar with 12-18 years of experience required.

What you’ll do

• Design and development of mechanical and thermal concepts as well as electrical elements such as busbars and internal harness of the battery packs
• Definition and implementation of the battery and cell strategy for all 2W, 3W, and 4W product lines
• Managing development teams to align with company and international standards as well as future technology evolution
• Ensuring industrialization of designs by reviewing and implementing manufacturing best practices and DFM and DFA requirements
• Creating electrical and mechanical battery design standards and re-usability of proven design concepts for first-time-right designs and faster time-to-market
• Developing a capable and high-performing team with technical expertise and winning cultures and enhancing team competences for advanced technologies and designs
• Ensuring proper failure prevention and risk analysis through DFMEA and PFMEA execution and supporting creation of a complete DVP for environmental, mechanical, and endurance testing
• Representing Energy Storage Systems in cross-functional meetings (vehicle programs, manufacturing, quality) and owning the platform and modularity strategy with compliance to Indian and global regulat

What you’ll bring

• 12-18 years of experience in EV & HEV Energy Storage Systems
• Proficiency in mechanical designs, material properties, 3D and 2D designs, and GD&T
• Hands-on expertise with CAD, CAE, and PLM tools and R&D development processes (DFM, DFA, DFMEA, PFMEA, simulation reports)
• Deep knowledge of pack architecture, trade-off analysis, and thermal management
• Experience in HV & HEV Energy Storage Systems
• Sound knowledge of part manufacturing and assembly methods and their requirements and limitations
• Hands-on experience in structural static and dynamic simulation, thermal simulation, and CFD
• Excellent leadership skills with experience building and managing design engineering teams, possibly across multiple locations
