About the role
Vendasta is seeking a Staff Accountant I in Chennai, India, to support accounting operations within the Finance & Admin department. The role focuses on month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, treasury, accounts payable, and audit activities, while leveraging AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy. The position requires a night shift from 2:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST.
What you’ll do
- Oversee the processing of expense claims, credit card transactions, transaction coding, and assist with accounts payable invoice processing and day-to-day issue resolution
- Support daily treasury management across Vendasta's bank accounts and assist with bank account reconciliations
- Act as a key team member during month-end close by coordinating assigned tasks, preparing journal entries, and maintaining the month-end checklist
- Prepare financial reports for various entities, ensuring accurate reconciliations, adjustments, and clear explanations for significant departmental P&L variances
- Follow team-defined AI workflows and approved AI tools for financial analysis, data validation, documentation, reporting, and administrative task automation while ensuring data confidentiality
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of audit requests for external auditors and tax authorities, ensuring compliance with IFRS and internal financial policies
- Partner with Staff Accountants and Accounting Analysts to address general accounting inquiries across A/R, A/P, and cross-functional finance projects
What you’ll bring
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their impact on financial reporting
- Proficiency in core accounting operations including financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and audit preparation
- Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to identify trends and explain variances in departmental P&L accounts
- Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite or similar)
- Familiarity with treasury functions, cash management across multiple bank accounts, and payment processing oversight
- High level of accuracy, exceptional attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to report financial performance and collaborate across teams
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting or a related financial role
