Assistant Manager, Product Costing

About the role

Product Costing Team at Aptiv focuses on accurate product cost estimation and optimization to drive profitability. The role prepares and validates cost estimates, collaborates with cross‑functional teams, conducts supplier audits, manages IMDS compliance, and leads cost‑reduction initiatives. Kochi, India, on-site work model.

What you’ll do

• Prepare and validate new product cost estimations and obtain approvals for quotations
• Collaborate with sales, program management, engineering, purchasing, quality, and operations for cost analysis
• Analyze estimated vs actual costs post‑project launch
• Conduct supplier process audits and address key concerns
• Identify and resolve shop‑floor cost issues and guide corrective actions
• Drive cost‑reduction initiatives through localization and alternate supplier development
• Manage customer change requests for cost‑saving projects
• Provide training on costing methodologies and IMDS requirements
• Oversee IMDS verification and submission to ensure compliance
• Support continuous improvement projects targeting scrap cost reduction
• Conduct financial gate reviews to verify project profitability
• Manage Engineering Change Notices and ensure timely communication
• Monitor project cost performance and recommend profitability improvements
• Prepare cost analysis reports and presentations for management

What you’ll bring

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive, Plastics, Manufacturing or related engineering field

Nice to have

Experience in product costing, supplier development, manufacturing, program management support, or cost engineering
