About the role

Gracenote, Nielsen’s content business unit, powers media entertainment through metadata solutions that connect audiences with content across global platforms. This Principal Member Technical Staff role drives engineering best practices, designs scalable backend architectures, and mentors senior engineers while contributing significantly to development. The position is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, as a full-time on-site role.

What you’ll do

• Drive technology and good practices in Engineering within respective teams
• Partner with Product team to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps
• Create modules and systems, contributing approximately 60% of time to development
• Ensure cross-system integration for seamless data flow across ingestion and delivery
• Design architectures and long-term technology vision for the platform
• Establish organization-wide engineering standards including coding guidelines and security protocols
• Mentor and guide Senior engineers to foster a culture of learning
• Experiment with new technologies and drive adoption while measuring impact

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience designing and scaling enterprise-grade applications from scratch
• Proficiency in Java/Python frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate)
• Deep understanding of SQL & NoSQL datastores
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization

Nice to have

• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Working knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts
