Senior Configuration Engineer, Quality Assurance

About the role

Configuration Management Team at SES ensures integrated satellite and ground systems operate reliably across development, QA, and production environments. The Senior Configuration Engineer (QA) defines and enforces configuration baselines, automates management with tools like Ansible and Terraform, and leads post‑release validation to guarantee environment parity. Based in Chennai, India, this on‑site role collaborates with DevOps, hardware, and operations teams to maintain traceability and quality throughout the system lifecycle.

What you’ll do

• Define, maintain, and enforce configuration baselines across environments
• Automate configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, Git, Terraform
• Manage version control conventions and ensure artifact traceability
• Validate CI/CD gates and support troubleshooting of configuration issues
• Lead post‑release validation and produce compliance reports
• Coordinate configuration control boards and communicate changes
• Develop and maintain configuration quality procedures and checklists
• Support audits and drive corrective actions for non‑conformances

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Satellite Engineering, SatCom, Ground Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics, or related field
• 3+ years configuration management experience in aerospace or satellite domains
• Proficiency with Ansible, Puppet, Git, Terraform or equivalent IaC tools
• Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and release artifact management
• Strong QA background including audit participation and CAPA processes

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field
• 3+ years configuration management experience
• Proficiency with Ansible, Puppet, Git, Terraform
• Experience with version control and CI/CD
• Strong analytical and communication skills
