Travel and Events Transactions Lead

About the role

The Travel and Events Transactions Lead within Amazon's Strategic Programs Management team drives transaction strategy and operational excellence for global travel payments. This role manages central billing, V-Pay operations, reconciliation, and supplier billing while coordinating with Finance, AP, and Tax teams to ensure compliance and process optimization. The position is based in Chennai, India, with a global scope.

What you’ll do

• Lead central billing program operations (BTA/CTA, V-Pay) in partnership with AP
• Manage V-Pay virtual card program day-to-day operations and issue resolution
• Drive central payments reconciliation processes and identify automation opportunities
• Manage Central Bill Solution related invoice management (e-invoicing)
• Own end-to-end travel supplier rebate tracking and payment collection
• Produce monthly travel and events accruals in coordination with Finance
• Ensure compliance with payment policy and related GRC controls across geographies
• Identify and implement AI-driven solutions to optimize payment operations

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years of relevant experience in travel, event, expense, or payment operations
• Familiarity with global payment systems and methods of payments
• Highly analytical with ability to make data-driven decisions
• Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
• Good communication skills

Nice to have

• Experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis
• Experience troubleshooting problems to streamline complex challenges
• Experience with e-business suite applications like Accounts Payable or General Ledger
• Knowledge of tax compliance principles and regulations across jurisdictions
