Senior Workday Specialist, Core HCM

About the role
HR Solutions team within Merck's Regional Capability Center focuses on building and scaling HR technology platforms. The Senior Workday Specialist configures and supports Workday Core HCM, designs AI‑enabled enhancements, manages integrations, and leads testing and release activities. Hyderabad, Telangana, India – hybrid work model with remote flexibility.
What you’ll do
- Configure and support Workday Core HCM to meet global and local HR needs
- Design and pilot AI‑driven automation and data‑driven recommendations
- Manage demand, change requests, and bi‑annual upgrades
- Support integrations between HR systems, payroll, and third‑party platforms
- Define test strategies, lead UAT, and support release deployments
- Prepare data privacy documentation and ensure GDPR compliance
- Serve as Tier 3 escalation point and create functional design and training materials
- Partner with HR stakeholders and global centers to translate needs into solutions
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years HRIS/HR Operations experience or 6+ years with high school diploma
- 2+ years Workday Core HCM configuration
- Experience with ticketing tools like ServiceNow or Jira
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specs
- Experience leading UAT and system testing
