About the role

The Lead Process Engineer (Fired Equipment Monitoring) role focuses on daily global surveillance of refinery and petrochemical fired heaters for performance, safety, and asset integrity, reporting deviations and recommending improvements. The position involves thermal modeling, performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication with process, mechanical, and project engineering teams. Based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, this is a full-time position.

What you’ll do

  • Daily surveillance of multiple fired heater operations for performance, safety, and integrity monitoring.
  • Preparation of performance reports covering various aspects of fired heater operation.
  • Identification of abnormalities, root cause analysis, proposing remedial measures, and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Tracking recommendation acceptance, compliance, and follow-up.
  • Performing thermal modeling and analysis for various fired heater types in refinery and petrochemical units.
  • Conducting process and thermal performance evaluations to ensure compliance with plant OPEX.
  • Utilizing simulation software for fired heater simulation and optimization.
  • Supporting troubleshooting and performance improvement activities for existing fired heater systems.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of industrial experience in oil and gas-refinery units.
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid flow, and process engineering fundamentals.
  • Understanding of various fired heater configurations, modes of operation, and key challenges in technology applications.
  • Hands-on experience in fired heater operation and performance monitoring.
  • Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, process datasheets, and GA drawings.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in oil and gas industry with process heaters as key components.
  • Exposure to working with process simulation tools FRNC-5PC.
  • Familiarity with fired heaters troubleshooting and debottlenecking studies.
  • Experience in furnace performance evaluation calculations.
  • Familiarity with other fired equipment including boilers, flares, thermal oxidizers, and HRSGs.
  • Knowledge of API and relevant industry standards.
  • Experience in thermal rating and engineering analysis of fired heaters.
  • Hands-on experience in fired heater performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization.

Education
