Software Engineer III - Data Engineering

About the role

Nike’s Data Foundation team builds scalable, secure data platforms to power global supply chain decision-making. As a Software Engineer III, you design and maintain robust data solutions, optimize pipelines, and develop APIs while mentoring junior engineers in a remote role based in Karnataka, India. This position requires 5-7 years of experience in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions and SDKs
• Build and optimize data pipelines ensuring quality and reliability
• Develop APIs and microservices to support enterprise-wide analytics
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers and data scientists
• Implement best practices in software development and platform observability
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers

What you’ll bring

• 5-7 years of software development experience with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
• Deep expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS EMR, Apache Spark, or Airflow
• Understanding of Lakehouse architecture, Data Mesh principles, and data governance
• Proficiency with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure management

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of Machine Learning and Generative AI concepts
• Exposure to LLMs, prompt engineering, or Agentic AI frameworks like LangChain
• Familiarity with RAG patterns and vector databases
