Ocean Pricing Assistant Manager

About the role

Expeditors, a global logistics company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, is hiring an Ocean Pricing Assistant Manager in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The role focuses on maintaining updated local port, storage, demurrage, and transportation charges, requesting and comparing rates from local carriers and origin/destination offices, and preparing quotes within 24 hours using the Quoting Database or approved formats. Day-to-day work includes building relationships with service providers, carriers, and co-loaders, coordinating with sales and customer service on profit margins, logging quote feedback for market analysis, running weekly carrier performance reports, and keeping all quotes confidential. The position is a full-time role requiring 2-3 years of country-specific industry qualification.

What you’ll do

• Maintain very good relationships with service providers, local carriers, and co-loaders
• Keep always updated local port charges, storage, demurrages, and local transportation charges
• Request rates from local carriers and destination/origin offices and compare them with SharePoint and contract agreements
• Check with customer service, sales, or managers on the profit margin to be added
• Revert on requests with quotes within 24 hours; send interim emails if there is a delay in receipt of rates
• Prepare quotes using the Quoting Database or Approved Quote Format as per company policy
• Maintain good relationships with Sales and Customer Service and collect feedback for each quote
• Update the Quote Log with feedback for market analysis and record correct rejection reasons

What you’ll bring

• 2-3 years of industry-specific qualification (country specific)
• Good market and product knowledge
• Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, and communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
• Good computer skills (Excel, Word)
• Ability to maintain updated local port charges, storage, demurrages, and transportation charges
• Ability to request rates from local carriers and destination/origin offices and compare them with SharePoint and contract agreements
• Ability to prepare quotes using the Quoting Database or Approved Quote Format as per company policy
• Ability to revert on requests with quotes within 24 hours and send interim emails if rates are delayed
