Mechanical Engineer - Piping Stress

About the role

Assystem, a leading nuclear engineering firm, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in piping stress analysis. The role involves performing detailed piping and flexibility calculations for nuclear projects, ensuring quality control and compliance with industry standards. Candidates will use 3D modeling tools such as Navisworks, CAESAR, AUTOPIPE, and PEPS to evaluate pipe support systems, particularly for seismic and safety‑critical pipelines. Responsibilities include drafting and verifying calculation notes, coordinating with support and senior engineers, updating client‑driven modifications, and collaborating with designers to refine 3D models. The position requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of piping engineering experience, and proficiency in ASME/EN codes, P&ID interpretation, and ISO 9001 processes. Fluency in English is mandatory, with French considered an asset. The role is based in Navi Mumbai, India, and is a full‑time, on‑site position.

What you’ll do

• Execute tasks assigned by Pipe Stress Lead Engineer.
• Ensure QC compliance with nuclear project standards.
• Use 3D models (Navisworks) for analysis.
• Liaise with support and senior engineers for deliverables.
• Perform nuclear pipe support calculations for seismic and safety pipelines.
• Write and verify piping calculation and hypothesis notes.
• Dimension pipes and supports; conduct flexibility counter‑calculations.
• Update and analyze modifications from client services and suppliers.
• Produce calculation notes and instruct modifications.
• Collaborate with designers to implement 3D model changes.
• Apply ISO 9001 processes throughout work.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years piping engineering calculations experience.
• Nuclear pipe support calculation expertise.
• Proficient in Navisworks, CAESAR, AUTOPIPE, PEPS.
• Knowledge of ASME/EN codes and P&ID interpretation.
• Familiar with ISO 9001 processes and procedures.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of French language.
• Experience with PMS, VMS, Smart Plant Review.
