HVDC SCADA HMI Project Engineer
About the role
The HVDC SCADA, HMI Project Engineer role supports Hitachi Energy's HVDC Control & Protection department in delivering control, protection, and OT/IT packages for HVDC power transmission links. Day-to-day work includes designing SCADA/HMI architecture, participating in tender and customer activities, developing HMI with Intouch, configuring gateway servers, managing IT infrastructure, performing factory and site testing, and coordinating commissioning and handover to the service team. The position is based on-site in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, and involves approximately 25% travel.
What you’ll do
- Support global projects for HVDC SCADA & HMI
- Design and develop architecture and functional descriptions for HVDC SCADA functions/solutions
- Participate in tender activities and customer meetings
- Work in database management/SQL and develop HMI with Intouch application, including gateway server configuration
- Work on IT infrastructure with knowledge of routers, firewalls, switches, servers, and workstations
- Prepare and perform test case scenarios and participate in FST
- Handle backup/image handling on servers and workstations and patch management
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree in EEE, E&I, or E&C
- Knowledge of communication protocols, HMI/SCADA, AVEVA system platform or equivalent tool, and MicroSCADA
- 7-10+ years of minimum work experience with OT/IT products, system configuration, networking and hardening scripts, and standards
- Knowledge of networking, system security, and compliance
- Knowledge of technical standards
- MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel)
- Commissioning experience and customer orientation
- Exposure to cyber security

Have bachelor's degree in EEE,E&I, E&C with a knowledge in communication protocols, HMI/SCADA,AVEVA system platform / Equivalent tool, MicroSCADA experience.
