About the role
Weekday AI client team is building next-generation storage firmware for enterprise HDD and SSD devices. The Principal Firmware Engineer will design, develop and optimize embedded firmware, implement storage algorithms, and create automation tools while collaborating with hardware and validation teams. Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, on-site work model, relocation assistance available.
What you’ll do
- Design and develop embedded firmware for HDD/SSD storage devices
- Implement complex storage management and performance algorithms
- Work with SATA, SAS, NVMe interfaces to ensure device reliability
- Create and maintain software requirement and design documentation
- Debug and resolve firmware issues across hardware/software layers
- Collaborate with hardware, validation and cross‑functional engineering teams
- Develop automation utilities and debugging tools using scripting languages
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to firmware architecture best practices
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years embedded firmware development
- Deep expertise in storage firmware
- Experience with HDD/SSD firmware
- Proficiency with SATA, SAS, NVMe interfaces
- Hands‑on with Flash Translation Layer (FTL)
- Strong C++ embedded programming
- Scripting in Python, Perl, Shell or Lua
