About the role

First Solar seeks a Technician – Engineering Maintenance I to support manufacturing operations in India. The role involves installing and qualifying equipment, troubleshooting daily production and equipment issues, and performing timely maintenance and repairs. Technicians will identify and implement system improvements to boost throughput, yield, and product performance, and will train and upskill production associates. Candidates should hold a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree in a technical field or at least two years of machine or mechanic experience, or one year of First Solar technical experience. Six months as an Associate EMT with a rating of 5 or higher is also acceptable. Required skills include a safety‑first mindset, electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge, hands‑on troubleshooting, self‑direction, strong English communication, Windows application proficiency, and the ability to recommend process improvements. The position is full‑time, on‑site in India, with minimal travel (<5%) after initial onboarding. Physical demands include up to 12 hours of standing or walking, lifting up to 51 lbs occasionally, and use of PPE. A background check is required. What you’ll do

Solve day‑to‑day production, equipment, and process problems.
Perform on‑site service and repair of equipment.
Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
Accomplish daily assignments as scheduled and directed.
Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
Set up and maintain gauges.
Ensure processes run on target per Process Control Plan.
Respond to SPC process control alarms.
Execute planned process experiments, collect and analyze data.
Provide training to production associates.
Develop and update internal documentation.
Maintain effective communication with manufacturing team.
