About the role

Senior Principal Digital IC Design Engineer at onsemi leads the design and benchmarking of embedded MCU/DSP systems for semiconductor products. The role requires deep expertise in digital architecture, Verilog/SystemVerilog, and AMBA bus protocols, as well as experience with design tools and low‑power optimization. The engineer mentors junior team members, drives project activities, and collaborates with product integration and software teams to deliver high‑performance hardware accelerators. Strong documentation, verification, and scripting skills are essential, along with excellent communication in English. What you’ll do

  • Lead project activities and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Architect, specify, implement, simulate, and benchmark MCU and DSP systems as well as hardware accelerators
  • Contribute to design methodology and design flow improvements
  • Consult the product integration teams in the definition, the integration and use of these systems
  • Participate to the verification and FPGA prototyping of these systems
  • Coordinate the SDK development with the software team

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years in semiconductor product development
  • Embedded CPU experience (ARM Cortex, DSP)
  • AMBA bus protocol knowledge (AHB/APB)
  • RTL design in Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Technical project leadership experience
  • Design intent knowledge (timing constraints, power intent)
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills

Nice to have

  • CPU/MCU subsystem design experience
  • SystemRDL or IP‑XACT knowledge
  • Python automation and C/C++ embedded software
  • Accelerator and signal‑processing component design
  • RTL‑to‑GDS flow including synthesis, place‑and‑route, STA, power analysis
  • Advanced UVM verification methodology
