Holiday Tribe is a next‑generation travel tech company that blends AI with travel expertise to deliver personalized holiday planning. As a Senior Software Engineer – AI Engineer, you’ll architect and build backend services that power our AI‑driven travel planner, from real‑time itinerary generation to intelligent API orchestration and semantic search. Working with Python, FastAPI, LLMs, LangGraph, and vector databases, you’ll design microservices, implement agent workflows, integrate flight and hotel APIs, and optimize performance for real‑time systems. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and AI teams to ship user‑facing features quickly, ensuring clean, modular code and ownership of core platform components. This role demands strong problem‑solving, product intuition, and experience in startup or product environments, with a passion for cutting‑edge AI applied to travel.
What you’ll do
- Build and scale microservices using Python and FastAPI
- Implement LangGraph‑based agents for travel planning workflows
- Integrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.) for itinerary generation and smart conversations
- Design tool‑calling systems that safely interact with flight, hotel, and activity APIs
- Develop semantic search features using embedding models and vector databases
- Collaborate with AI engineers, product managers, and designers to ship user‑facing features quickly
What you’ll bring
- 3–5 years of software engineering experience in product or startup settings
- Proficiency in Python, FastAPI, and RESTful API design
- Hands‑on experience with LLMs, LangGraph, and prompt orchestration
- Knowledge of semantic search, embeddings, and vector databases (e.g., Chroma, Weaviate)
- Strong async programming skills and real‑time system optimization
Nice to have
- Experience building LangChain/LangGraph agents or multi‑step workflows
- Familiarity with travel APIs (flights, hotels, activities)
- Understanding of Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
