Senior Associate Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering
About the role
We’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join LSEG’s Real Time SRE team. The role supports a large, globally-distributed market data infrastructure, providing support for critical real‑time applications, automating development and operational toil, and driving adoption of modern tools and platforms. Candidates should be strong individual contributors with operational support and development skills, experience with complex distributed systems, and strong communication abilities. Responsibilities include collaborating across infrastructure, networks, data quality, and development teams to ensure service health; ensuring end‑to‑end quality for application migrations to cloud; supporting applications on on‑premise data centers and public/private cloud (AWS/Azure); automating toil via scripting and Git; leveraging tools to accelerate incident response; crafting dashboards and alerting pipelines; integrating cloud services and tooling; designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; and defining service level objectives and monitoring. Requirements include at least five years of DevOps or SRE experience, hands‑on cloud support (AWS/Azure), production‑grade Python coding, Unix/Linux expertise, container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure AKS, AWS EKS), CI/CD pipeline design, observability components (alerts, dashboards, log‑parsing, automated remediation), and documentation skills. The role offers experience coordinating large‑scale technical initiatives, low‑latency market data support, cutting‑edge platforms, and a dynamic team. LSEG values flexibility and may discuss work arrangements.
What you’ll do
- Working across multiple functions (infrastructure, networks, data quality, and development teams) to ensure service health for LSEG clients
- Ensure end‑to‑end quality for application migrations to cloud, from high‑quality documentation, to observability flows, to operational acceptance testing and beyond
- Support a diverse set of applications deployed across on‑premise data centers, public and private cloud (AWS/Azure)
- Automating operational and development toil via scripting skills and familiarity with Git
- Leverage the latest tools and develop processes to accelerate LSEG’s response to and recovery from service‑impacting incidents
- Crafting reusable dashboards and alerting pipelines from raw metrics and logs
- Integrate cloud services, tooling platforms, and process automation together to accelerate Mean Time to Detection and Resolution for incidents
- Designing, authoring, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and patterns
- Define Service Level Objectives and implement monitoring to ensure our systems are available and healthy
What you’ll bring
- At least 5 years of hands‑on DevOps or SRE experience, or equivalent (supporting financial markets, real‑time data, or client‑facing apps a plus)
- Hands‑on experience supporting cloud apps (AWS/Azure preferred)
- Fluent in writing well‑documented, production‑grade Python code
- Excellent grasp of software development lifecycle components: testing, code quality and security scans, artifact versioning, environment promotion, and deployment models
- Strong background in Unix/Linux concepts, configuration, and shell scripting
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure AKS, AWS EKS)
- Experience deploying changes to large, distributed systems in cloud and on‑premises
- Excellent knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, able to design, author, and maintain CI/CD codebases
- Experience designing observability components: alerts, dashboards, monitors, log‑parsing pipelines, automated remediation (DataDog experience a plus)
- Detail‑oriented approach to writing crystal‑clear technical documentation
