Senior Associate Engineer, Engine Performance

About the role

Engine Systems team at Caterpillar develops high‑performance diesel engines for off‑highway applications. The Senior Associate Engineer defines engine performance requirements, supports integration and emissions compliance, and analyzes field data to drive improvements. Works onsite five days a week in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu with relocation assistance available.

What you’ll do

• Define engine performance requirements
• Support engine and aftertreatment integration
• Analyze operational data for trends and issues
• Create tools and dashboards for engineering decisions
• Partner with suppliers to develop corrective actions
• Serve as technical resource on performance and emissions

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years engine performance experience
• Diesel engine and aftertreatment knowledge
• Vector Canape & Canalyzer proficiency
• Power BI, Python, MATLAB data analytics
• CAN communication and engine control expertise

Nice to have

• Define torque, power, fuel consumption targets
• Support integration across new product programs
• Analyze performance trends and field data
• Develop analytical dashboards and reports
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross‑functional teams

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
