About the role
Cognizant’s Corporate Real Estate and Workplace Services (CREWS) organization seeks a Senior Director to lead large-scale construction, redevelopment, and workplace transformation programs across India. This role provides enterprise-level leadership for strategic real estate investments, ensuring rigorous control over scope, cost, schedule, quality, and compliance while managing multi-location projects exceeding one million square feet. The position is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, with a flexible work model determined upon joining.
What you’ll do
- Lead multi-location greenfield, redevelopment, and major fit-out programs from concept through handover
- Define delivery strategy, contracting approach, procurement support, and execution controls
- Oversee selection and governance of architects, PMCs, consultants, contractors, and vendors
- Plan and monitor statutory approvals, authority coordination, and regulatory compliance
- Govern budgets, cash flows, cost plans, and master schedules across project locations
- Champion zero-harm safety culture and ensure contractor EHS compliance
- Embed quality, sustainability, energy efficiency, and responsible materials practices
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing consulting team
What you’ll bring
- 15+ years progressive experience in large-scale construction management or infrastructure program leadership
- At least 5 years as Project Director, Program Director, or equivalent senior leadership
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related discipline
- Proven delivery of campuses, Grade-A offices, or complex fit-outs in India
- Strong expertise in construction contracts, procurement strategies, and risk governance
Nice to have
- Master's degree or advanced qualification in Interior Design, Sustainable Architecture, or Construction Management preferred
- PMP, RICS, LEED, or IGBC credentials advantageous
- Experience managing multi-location project portfolios and large capital expenditure programs
- Deep understanding of sustainability, ESG, and green building certifications
