About the role
Product Development Engineering team at Mattel drives innovative toy concepts from design to production. The Lead Product Development Engineer will translate product ideas into manufacturable toys, partner with development teams, and oversee pilot debugging, quality, cost and schedule across contract manufacturers. Based in Belagavi, Karnataka, India with a hybrid work model (4 days onsite).
What you’ll do
- Develop and translate product concepts into defined toys
- Partner with upstream teams to launch products in OEM plants
- Drive debug, pilot testing and troubleshoot production issues
- Implement process control and improve line efficiency
- Identify cost-saving and value improvement opportunities
- Apply expertise in plastics, assembly and electronics integration
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on technical designs
- Champion quality assurance and compliance initiatives
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years product engineering experience
- BA/BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or related field preferred
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo)
- Strong knowledge of plastics, molding, tooling and electronics
- Experience with FEA and simulation tools
- Project management of complex product launches
- Excellent communication in English
- Ability to mentor junior engineers
