About the role

Technology - Applications Development team at Citigroup builds AI/ML platforms for financial services. The Senior AI/ML Engineer designs and deploys microservice-based GenAI solutions, leveraging Python, FastAPI, large language models, and cloud-native architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Role based in Chennai and Pune, hybrid work model with occasional onsite collaboration.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement scalable AI/ML microservices
• Develop and fine‑tune foundation models for financial use cases
• Create retrieval‑augmented generation pipelines with vector databases
• Integrate AI solutions into enterprise APIs and CI/CD workflows
• Collaborate with data engineering teams on pipelines and governance
• Lead prompt engineering and workflow design for GenAI optimization
• Coordinate with stakeholders and executive leadership on AI strategy
• Ensure observability, monitoring, and performance of AI services

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years in microservices and distributed architectures
• Proficiency in Python, FastAPI, Java, Spring AI
• Experience with LLMs such as Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, Llama
• Hands‑on with PyTorch, TensorFlow, fine‑tuning
• Building AI pipelines using LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face
• Deploying containers via Docker and monitoring production APIs
• Data engineering expertise: ETL/ELT, data lakes, warehouses
• Cloud‑native design on AWS, Azure, GCP
