Director AI Software Engineering

About the role

The AI Foundry at GE Vernova delivers internal AI productivity applications and advocates for responsible AI usage across the company. As Director of AI Software Engineering, you lead teams to execute and deliver AI solutions from concept to production while managing contractors and full-time engineers. This role is based in Bengaluru.

What you’ll do

• Lead delivery of AI capabilities and applications from internal teams and third parties
• Manage growing group of full-time employees and contractors focused on delivery
• Provide day-to-day work direction for team members engaged in projects
• Present leadership updates to GE Vernova executives and internal customers
• Define future technology rollout and architecture for products and services
• Facilitate and coach software engineering teams on requirements estimation
• Drive continuous learning culture and guide continuous improvements
• Operate as subject matter expert and technical expert for assigned programs

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM field
• 15 years of software engineering experience
• 8 years in technical engineering, systems architecture, or principal-level role
• 5+ years leading and managing software engineering organizations
• Cloud SaaS delivery experience
• Experience shipping AI applications with cost management

Nice to have

• Experience managing other engineering managers
• Ability to engage senior executive stakeholders (VPs, Directors)
• Track record leading large cross-functional engineering organizations
• Experience deploying RAG pipelines in production
• Experience with serverless technologies including AWS AgentCore and Langchain
• Experience working with AWS services and cloud platforms
