About the role
USB and Networking Group at Microchip Technology designs and supports USB, PCIe, and networking solutions. As an Engineer II – Applications you will develop application notes, maintain Linux/QNX/VxWorks/Windows drivers, create demos and technical training, and provide direct support to sales and field engineers. Based in Chennai, India, on-site work model.
What you’ll do
- Develop collateral like application notes, data sheets, and technical manuals
- Maintain and enhance Linux/QNX/VxWorks/Windows drivers
- Create applications interfacing with PCIe and USB layers
- Build demos for trade events
- Deliver technical training webinars and workshops
- Provide technical support to sales, field engineers, and strategic customers
- Collaborate with design, product/test, and marketing teams
- Identify new applications and assist in defining new products
What you’ll bring
- Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Understanding of electrical system design and mixed‑signal circuits
- Basic knowledge of embedded software/firmware design
- Strong written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
Nice to have
- Experience presenting technical information
- Direct customer service and support experience
- Familiarity with USB, PCIe, Ethernet protocols
- Basic electrical circuit design experience
- Embedded C and assembly programming knowledge
- Use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes
