About the role
Barclays AI Engineering team builds enterprise AI/ML capabilities that power core financial services. As an Assistant Vice President - Applied AI Engineer you will design, develop and deliver production‑grade AI subsystems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and security teams. Bengaluru office, on‑site work model.
What you’ll do
- Architect and implement AI/ML pipelines and agentic workflows
- Develop APIs and microservices for high‑throughput AI services
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers
- Ensure secure coding and compliance with AI safety standards
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to define requirements
- Drive performance optimization and observability
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years software engineering experience
- 3+ years building AI/ML systems at scale
- Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, asyncio) and Go/Java
- Experience with AWS services and AI platforms
- Hands‑on Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
