About the role
Embedded Platform Engineering at Caterpillar builds core software for next‑generation embedded and edge computing systems. The role designs, develops and maintains Linux‑based platform software, middleware services such as ROS2 and DDS, and device drivers, collaborating with hardware, firmware and test teams in an Agile/SAFe environment. Chennai, India, on‑site five days a week, with relocation assistance available.
What you’ll do
- Design and implement platform software and middleware services
- Perform Linux OS bring‑up, BSP integration, and driver development
- Develop and integrate ROS2/DDS communication frameworks
- Debug and optimize system performance across hardware and software layers
- Collaborate with cross‑functional hardware, firmware and test teams
- Follow SDLC, coding standards and release processes
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years embedded Linux development
- C++ programming
