Specialist/Senior Specialist - Strategic Sourcing

About the role

Sun Life seeks a Specialist or Senior Specialist in Strategic Sourcing to support lower-spend tactical purchases for Canadian business, Corporate, and IT categories. The role involves developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-saving initiatives through data analysis and process improvement. This position is based in Gurugram, Haryana, as a full-time on-site role.

What you’ll do

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for commodities or services
• Negotiate contracts and manage complex supplier relationships
• Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) improvements and monitor KPIs
• Lead clients through the sourcing process including risk and governance support
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align purchasing with company goals
• Assess and resolve procurement issues and escalations
• Apply project management concepts to sourcing planning and execution
• Ensure adherence to governance processes and policies

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years relevant sourcing/procurement experience
• Hands-on experience with data collection, cleansing, and analysis
• Expertise in leading sourcing initiatives, deal management, and contract negotiations
• Familiarity with vendor contract language and SAP Ariba Contracts/Sourcing Modules
• Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and legal counsel
• Comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty

• Effective client relationship management skills
• Financial analysis skills including advanced Excel
• Experience creating and managing project plans
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Confidence in leading negotiations to conclusion
