Field Engineer (Electrical)

About the role

SMEC India seeks a Field Engineer (Electrical) to support Independent Engineer services for the MSTU Saswad 400/220/132 kV AIS Substation Project in Washi, Maharashtra. The role involves supervising daily electrical construction activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring quality and safety compliance on-site. This is a fixed-term contract position based in Mumbai.

What you’ll do

• Supervise day-to-day electrical construction activities at the project site
• Monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications
• Inspect materials, equipment, and workmanship for quality and safety adherence
• Witness testing and commissioning activities of electrical systems
• Maintain site records, inspection reports, and progress documentation
• Coordinate with the Independent Engineer, client, contractor, and stakeholders
• Identify construction issues and support timely resolution to avoid delays
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, statutory regulations, and HSE requirements

What you’ll bring

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in EHV/HV substation or transmission projects
• Knowledge of electrical construction practices and quality standards
• Familiarity with relevant Indian Standards and electrical safety regulations

Nice to have

• Experience in AIS/GIS substation projects
• Knowledge of testing and commissioning activities

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
