About the role
Adani Group is hiring a Deputy General Manager (DGM) - Regulatory Affairs for AGEL in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The role focuses on monitoring and interpreting power sector regulations, advocating policy positions, and ensuring compliance for renewable energy projects. Day-to-day work includes drafting regulatory submissions, representing the company before commissions and tribunals, liaising with government agencies for clearances, and supporting business strategy, M&A, and PPA management. The position requires 10+ years of regulatory domain experience and an engineering, law, or management background.
What you’ll do
- Monitor, interpret, and analyse government policies, regulatory developments, and regulatory matters affecting renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hybrid, etc.).
- Prepare and finalise petitions, replies, and rejoinders for regulatory authorities (State/Central Commissions, Tribunals, Courts).
- Represent the company before regulatory bodies, government agencies (e.g., MoP, MNRE, SECI, NTPC, State Utilities, Discoms), and industry associations.
- Liaise with government departments for project clearances, permits, and statutory compliance (including PPA and local statutory requirements).
- Track and report on policy developments, case laws, and regulatory updates at both central and state levels.
- Provide strategic support for business development, project management, and regulatory functions, including research and maintaining MIS for regulatory/litigation matters.
- Contribute to business strategy planning, M&A, PPA management, and energy accounting.
- Conduct due diligence and power studies, especially for grid connectivity and project feasibility.
What you’ll bring
- Educational background in engineering (mechanical, electrical, etc.), law, or management (MBA/PG in Power/Energy Management preferred).
- In-depth understanding of power sector regulations in India, especially in the renewable energy domain.
- Experience in regulatory affairs, policy analysis, compliance management, and project lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage teams and work cross-functionally.
- Experience in Regulatory domain for 10+ years.
Nice to have
Prior experience in open access, PPA mandates, and regulatory compliance is highly valued.
