Assistant Manager, Engineering

About the role

Coats Engineering Operations team ensures reliable dyeing and utility equipment performance while driving safety and sustainability. The Assistant Manager leads preventive and predictive maintenance, manages a team of technicians, conducts root‑cause analysis, and implements energy‑conservation initiatives. Based in Ambasamudram, India, on‑site role with hands‑on leadership of plant reliability programs.

What you’ll do

• Lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for dyeing machines and utility equipment
• Ensure compliance with EHS standards and legal requirements
• Analyze performance metrics (MTBF, MTTR, OEE) and drive reliability improvements
• Track and reduce energy and water consumption per production unit
• Implement SAP PM processes and maintain accurate maintenance records
• Develop and train maintenance team, conduct safety programs
• Manage spare parts inventory to optimize availability and cost
• Support engineering projects for new machine installations

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years experience in maintenance engineering
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent time management and project delivery
• Leadership experience managing technicians
• Knowledge of EHS regulations and Factories Act
• Proficiency in SAP Plant Maintenance
• Fluent in English and Tamil
