About the role

Collector R&D teams at athenahealth build backend services that enable high‑volume claim resolution workflows for healthcare providers. The Senior Member of Technical Staff designs, develops and maintains Java/Spring Boot microservices on AWS, collaborates with product and architecture partners, and ensures reliability, security and performance. Chennai, hybrid work model (Hybrid).

What you’ll do

• Design and develop backend applications using Java/Spring Boot
• Build scalable microservices on AWS
• Implement APIs and asynchronous processing for high‑volume workflows
• Collaborate with product managers, architects and engineers
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve service reliability
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering standards
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline enhancements
• Document technical designs and service dependencies

What you’ll bring

• 4-9 years software engineering experience
• Java and Spring Boot expertise
• Microservices architecture design
• AWS cloud services experience
• RESTful API development
• Agile development environment
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
