About the role
We seek an experienced API Engineer with 5–7 years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and securing scalable APIs. The role focuses on API‑first design, RESTful API development on OpenShift, and strong knowledge of modern API security protocols.
What you’ll do
- Design and deploy RESTful APIs following API-first principles.
- Build and manage APIs on OpenShift, ensuring performance and scalability.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, and mTLS.
- Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to define API requirements and versioning.
- Ensure API governance, consistency, and documentation standards.
- Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and security assessments.
- Monitor API usage, performance, and error rates, implementing observability best practices.
- Work in Agile teams and contribute to continuous improvement of development and deployment processes.
What you’ll bring
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science engineering or related field.
Nice to have
- Experience with API gateways (e.g., Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, or 3scale).
- Familiarity with event-driven APIs (e.g., Webhooks, Kafka-based patterns).
- Knowledge of rate limiting, throttling, and caching strategies for APIs.
Skills
Design and develop RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.Deploy APIs on OpenShift or Kubernetes platforms.Implement OAuth2, JWT, and mTLS for secure authentication.Proficient in backend languages such as Java, Python, Node.js, or Go.Apply CI/CD pipelines for automated API deployment.
